Blind Trip (Thomas Kaduk) PART ONE

Blind Trip Blind Trip was my first short film. The film is not made according to the American principals of continuity, but rather on its own new way. Therefore this was an experiment. I have tried to anatomize the experiences of the main character and project them on the viewer. The viewer is thrown into the perception of the main character and enters his dark, cruel world of decay and drugs and murdering. You know only what he knows, by only experiencing what he experiences, which makes the film a huge puzzle. I shot the film with hard, low-key lighting according to the film noir principle to emphasize on the darkness of this world. This film is shot during 5 nights, on an old Sony DSR-300 video-cam which had real difficulties with our low key setup, and using a constantly failing old monitor. However as lights we used two 2kW blondes and a nice Arri 1kW, 800W, and 2 times 600W. I could luckily work with a very enthusiast and capable crew which made this movie possible the way it is.
